The waiting list for the federal Housing Choice Voucher Program, which provides rental assistance for low-income individuals and families, is being reopened in Steele County through the Owatonna HRA effective August 5, 2015 for applicants with the Residency Preference.
The Owatonna HRA is now accepting applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program to eligible families with the residency preference only. Families wishing to apply for the Housing Choice Voucher Program are required to complete the housing application (PDF) and submit proof of residency.
The housing office will request documentation of the residency preference at the time application is received.

A Household may be eligible for a Voucher if their income is below the limits. The income limits are set by HUD on an annual basis. They are set at 50% of the median family income for the geographical area.

Eligible applicants may pick up an application and program brochure at the Owatonna HRA office between 8 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
