The City of Owatonna maintains over 906 acres of parkland throughout 37 parks (developed, undeveloped, green spaces and special use) and has over 31 miles of paved and natural trails. Owatonna's parks offer citizens and visitors of all ages a variety of outdoor activities throughout the year. These parks encourage people to connect with nature and engage with one another, fostering a stronger sense of community.

In the fall of 2024, a water test from the spring at Mineral Springs Park was completed. The results from UC Laboratories and Steele County Public Health show that the water does meet Minnesota water quality standards.

The Maintenance Division uses herbicides, larvicides and mosquito control measures each year. Staff are licensed applicators.
