Valentines Day Driving Safety Reminder

The Best Valentine's Day Gift

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, many are thinking about roses, chocolates or special plans with the people who mean the most. But there is one gift that is more precious than anything you can buy in a store – your safe arrival home. It’s easy to get into a rush after a long day when you're missing your family or friends. You might feel the urge to press a little harder on the gas just to get home sooner. But remember: The people waiting for you don't want you to take risks; they need you to arrive alive.

This year, make a commitment to drive safe for them:

  • Slow down for your sweetheart: Speeding is a leading factor in fatal crashes. Getting home a few minutes later than desired is worth it if it means arriving alive.
  • Put the phone down for the people you love: No text, video, post or notification is worth missing a lifetime of milestones. Let them know you’re heading home, then put the phone away until you're parked.
  • Buckle up for your family: It’s the simplest way to show you care about your future together.
  • Plan a sober ride: If your celebration includes a toast, make sure it includes a sober ride home.

Speeding or taking risks to save a few minutes is gambling with the hearts of the people who love you. Let’s make this Valentine's Day about more than just cards and candy – make it about the promise to always make it home safely.
